American Heart Association  Intern

The American Heart Association works every minute of every day to spread lifesaving knowledge and fund groundbreaking research for heart disease and stroke. The American Heart Association is looking for a Special Event Intern in Greenville, NC. Eastern North Carolina has three major events each year. Down East Heart Ball, Down East/Greenville Heart Walk, and the Twin Counties/Rocky Mount Heart Walk.

The American Heart Association will offer unpaid internships for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization. Individuals will obtain practical experience and receive hands-on training in various disciplines including: fundraising/sales, database management, event planning, and communications.

Internship Opportunities

Individuals participating in the internship program are provided with an opportunity to:
• Gain important and practical job skills to be successful in a non-profit environment
• Opportunity to explore a career-path with a reputable voluntary health/service organization

Responsibilities may include:
• Event planning and logistics.
• Administrative duties
• Assistance in contacting businesses for participation in events and donations.
• Assistance with developing event materials.
• Event communications (i.e. newsletters, emails)
• Volunteer Management
• Database management assistance
• Office support

Qualifications:
• Creativity
• Strong phone skills
• Strong computer skills
• Office administrative skills
• Ability to accurately enter important data
• Strong time management skills
• Excellent organizational and listening skills
• Excellent oral, written and electronic communication
• Excellent attention to detail
• Marketing or sales background is a plus
• Desire to work in a fast paced environment

Intern should have minimum of 8+ hours available weekly. Internships are by semester and are offered year round. Intern is expected to work events unless class schedules prohibit. Information for class credit is available.
