College of Education Graduate Assistant Position

The Graduate Studies Office in the Dean’s Office of the College of Education is seeking a graduate assistant to work 20-25 hours per week during the Spring 2016 term (with the possibility of continuing placement). The Dean’s Office of the College of Education is located on ECU main campus in Speight Building.

Job description:
The GA will be working with the College of Education Graduate Studies Liaison and Associate Dean for Administration and Faculty Excellence, on recruitment initiatives, marketing efforts, and other aspects of graduate student recruitment and retention. The GA will also assist with other tasks pertaining to recruitment and retention, which could include organizing events, planning off campus visits, creating marketing materials, and conducting research on a variety of recruitment-related issues.

The GA may expect to gain experience in a variety of student service-oriented functions that are applicable in many higher education settings.

Minimum qualifications:
Qualified candidates will possess a keen interest in the field of higher education, specifically admissions, recruitment, and student services. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication, and writing; proficiency in various Microsoft programs required. The position often requires the ability to work independently and requires attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Preferred qualifications:
Higher education or student affairs experience preferred, specifically including students pursuing degrees in counseling, adult education, communications, or marketing.
