Goal of the public service fellowship:
Execute/ assist in directing two offshore fishing tournaments

Time line: July 11 to August 19th on location (housing will be organized), report writing thereafter, 300 hours of work, $ 4500 compensation

Required major, knowledge, skills and abilities needed
· Communications major (excluding seniors who graduate in spring or summer 2016).
· interest in art and creative work to assist in website and planning and preparation efforts
· good writing skills to be able to draft press releases and represent the event to the community
· outgoing personality with excellent listening skills to assist interacting with diverse community members

Job Duties of the Public Service Fellow at the Pirate’s Cove Billfish Tournament INC
· The intern will learn how to plan and carry out two community events including set up and take down of the week-long “festival”, management of 40 plus volunteers, and cooperation with caterers, suppliers, vendors and displaying sponsors.
· After each event the intern will collect information from participants and vendors about their opinions of the events and their suggestions for improvement based on a data collection instrument developed in cooperation with the faculty advisor C. Avenarius. The findings from these efforts will be made available to all stakeholders.
· The intern participate in the design of promotional materials for sponsors, press, and participants.
· The intern will work with local and national media coverage, three national video production companies, social media, website updates with a professional graphic designer, assist with the updating of an APP that was created expressly for PCBT.
· The intern will also work with the subcontractor that organizes and scores all the data for the fishing and determines the final scoring of the events. Upon completion of the events, final results will be made available to the marine industry in the form of press releases.
· The intern then will assist in storing the event until next year and develop outreach materials to promote the event in 2017 based on the materials collected in 2016. New advertisements for 2017 will be developed and surveys will be complied and delivered to participants and sponsors.
