The Newsweek/The Daily Beast Company formed in February 2011 when Newsweek and The Daily Beast completed their merger, bringing together the revered print brand and one of the country’s best-trafficked and most visible news sites. Since its founding in 1933, Newsweek has served as the world’s preeminent conversation starter. Launched in 2008, The Daily Beast now has upwards of 5 million unique users a month and has made an immediate and lasting impact on the world of online news.
 
Position: Video Internship
Location: New York, NY
 
We are seeking detail oriented, responsible candidates with a strong interest in online video and production to join the Newsweek Daily Beast video team. This internship is an exciting opportunity for someone to be part of a small team and gain hands on experience in the video and online media space.
Successful candidates will have a deep knowledge of political, entertainment, and celebrity news. As an intern, these are just a few things you will learn and participate in:

  • Partner with video bloggers to scour the web for the buzziest viral videos, keep on top of breaking political news, and clip and edit the best moments from a variety of television programs.
  • Learn about the production of online video shows from shooting to editing. 
  • Practice writing captions and learn how to write/edit video blogs alongside the video team. 

 
Qualifications:

  • Ideal candidates will have a solid understanding/interest in current events from politics to pop culture.
  • A background in production or related major is appreciated but not required.
  • Desire to work in a diverse, start up environment
  • Comfortable with deadlines and a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity or knowledge of Final Cut Pro huge plus

 
This is a for credit internship.  All applicants must be currently enrolled in a degree granting program and receive college credit for the internship.  Additionally, credit certification proof must be provided during the interview process.
