Applications are being accepted now through April 30 for the 2019 NC AHEC Scholars program at Eastern AHEC.

 

This program recruits, trains, and supports a diverse group of students from across the state, creating a multidisciplinary team of health professionals committed to community service and the transformation of health care in North Carolina. There is an emphasis on individuals from underrepresented minorities, disadvantaged/rural backgrounds, and first-generation college students. Applicants should have a current interest in improving health care in rural or underserved communities and be currently enrolled in a health professions degree or certificate program in North Carolina.

 

 

  • Open to university and community college students of all health professions
  • Network with peers and professionals across the region and state
  • Two-year program (September-May each year)
  • 80 hours of education/training per year (40 didactic and 40 clinical)
  • $400 stipend per year

Medical, dental, pharmacy, nursing, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, social work, physical therapy, occupational therapy, public health and other health professions students are eligible to apply. This program is open to both undergraduate and graduate students as long as they can commit two years.
