- To prepare students for careers in their desired media field.
- To help them gain the necessary experience to position them ahead of the pack.
- To provide foundational first-hand experience with collaboration, problem-solving and hands-on project experience.
WHAT INTERNS CAN EXPECT FROM THEIR EXPERIENCE:
- Participation in a mentorship with a member of Senior Leadership.
- Occasion to share with the organization any final projects or presentations.
- Opportunity to participate in an exit interview to share experiences, feedback and input.
- Guaranteed interview when applying for employment with UNC-TV after the competition of the internship.
- Academic credit at the discretion of their institution
CRITERIA FOR APPLYING:
- Attend an accredited college or university
AND - Be at least a full-time undergraduate student (12 semester hours);
OR - Be a graduate student (9 semester hours)
UNC-TV is seeking a bright, enthusiastic, student who enjoys learning about and exploring North Carolina life and culture from arts and education to public policy to help deliver information and stories to viewers in a compelling way. This intern will work closely with the senior producer and host of UNC-TV series Black Issues Forum and North Carolina Weekend assisting with producing content for promotion and broadcast.
JOB DUTIES
- Create a viewer database
- Create weekly content using still images, video, and text to feed social media pages
- Schedule interviews
- Write copy for scripts
- Assist with field shoots
- Fact-check, research feature topics, and offer ideas for ways to discuss them.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the producer.
This intern will earn an hourly rate of $15 for up to 40 hours per week over a 10-week period.
