Graduate Admissions Office Seeking Graduate Assistant

The Graduate Admissions Office in the Academic Affairs Division is seeking a graduate assistant to work 20 hours per week during the Spring 2016 term. The Admissions Office is located on ECU main campus in Ragsdale Hall.

Job description:
The GA will be working with the Director of Admissions in the Graduate School on recruitment initiatives, marketing efforts, and other aspects of graduate admissions. The GA will also be tasked with serving as a student ambassador to communicate with prospective students regarding questions about attending ECU, student life, program options, and other issues related to applying to and selecting a graduate school. The position may also include meeting with prospective graduate students and conducting tours that include information and locations relevant to graduate students at ECU. The GA will assist with other tasks pertaining to admissions and recruitment, which could include organizing events, planning off campus visits, creating marketing materials, and conducting research on a variety of admissions-related issues.

The GA may expect to gain experience in a variety of student service oriented functions that are applicable in many higher education settings.

Minimum qualifications:
Qualified candidates will possess a keen interest in the field of higher education, specifically admissions, recruitment, and student services. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. The position often requires the ability to work independently and requires attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Preferred qualifications:
Higher education experience preferred, specifically including students pursuing degrees in student affairs counseling and adult education.
