2024 Arts Administration Internship Opportunity 

 

NCPC seeks an ambitious, self-motivated student with a strong interest in arts administration for a professional internship opportunity. This is a position with a stipend of $1600 and carries a commitment of five months and requires ten (10) virtual/remote hours per week as well as in-person attendance on Oct 20-23 at our ArtsMarket Conference in Durham, NC. We welcome all applications, however, preference will be given to those students in an arts administration or performing arts undergraduate or graduate program.

North Carolina Presenters Consortium is a not-for-profit membership association comprising professional performing arts presenting organizations, agents, managers, performing artists, service organizations, and vendors from NC and beyond who share the mission of bringing artists and audiences together. NCPC is a member-based resource network, forged in a spirit of non-competitive cooperation and dedicated to enhancing the availability, quality, variety, and affordability of professional touring arts and entertainment attractions presented throughout the state. 

      Internship Logistics

      Internship dates & stipend: July 8 – October 23, 2024 with a total stipend of $1600.

In Person attendance required: In-person attendance is required at our 2024 ArtsMarket Conference in Durham, NC on Oct. 20-23 (approx 40 hrs during the course of the conference). Hotel, travel miles, and meals will be provided during this conference. 

Internship Location: Remote with the exception of the 2024 ArtsMarket Conference which is on-site.
Internship application deadline: May 6th, 2024.

Intern Tasks and Responsibilities (may include)

Research and Project Management 

Assist in developing rosters of potential member organizations throughout the state and in neighboring states through targeted research 

Participate in other data collection, market research, and relationship-building as may be appropriate to the assignment 

Marketing and Communication 

Assist the marketing manager in the development of promotional materials for membership campaign and events

Marketing & Social Media: 

Intern will gain knowledge and experience assisting with the coordination and promotion of the NCPC’s events, activities and services through traditional media and new media platforms Primary focus on developing skills necessary for creation and distribution of marketing materials surrounding the NCPC’s events, planning and execution of events as well as crossover projects designed to enhance the visibility statewide as a vital performing arts resource.

Digital design projects may include: promotional posters, banners, house signage, magazine advertisements, social content, etc. 

Knowledge of Canva and Video editing is encouraged, but not required 

Ability to attend required on-line meetings weekly with admin team 

Ability to attend occasional in-person meetings in the Triangle area. 

Event Logistics and Support 

Help the NCPC Admin team with overseeing particular tasks throughout the event planning & work closely with staff to ensure the completion of a successful event 

This may include (but is not limited to) meeting with vendors at the venue location to help with set-up 

Developing, coordinating and/or distributing event materials to include signage, agendas, registration information, name badges, etc. 

Running errands for supplies and decorations 

Assist with planning event details and aspects, including seating, dining and guests Assist with managing events and addressing potential problems that may arise 

Assist with planning for potential scenarios that could impact the integrity of the event Maintaining a working knowledge of the complex needs of a wide variety of events Attending ArtsMarket 2024 event to oversee meeting prep and wrap-up and manage onsite activities to ensure plans are executed and outstanding service is provided, including assisting with booth set up/teardown and packaging/shipping of event materials. Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

         NCPC ArtsMarket 2024 Event Information  

ARTSMARKET (October 21-23) in Durham, NC
ArtsMarket is a widely respected performing arts showcase conference that attracts upwards of 500 delegates from the southeastern United States and beyond. Usually held in Durham, NC, over three days, it features an average of three dozen live showcase performances at the Carolina Theatre and 100 exhibit booths at the Durham Convention Center, as well as an opening reception, new colleague and professional development sessions, and countless networking opportunities. 

About Our Ideal Intern 

This position will most likely work in many areas and with various NCPC staff and/or Board members. The work ethic at NCPC is to take on whatever tasks are needed. Our ideal intern candidate should have some proficiency in the following areas: 

Social media postings and communications 

Database management – creating and manipulating data in spreadsheets 

Google Suite 

Strong work ethic with an assertive self-starter approach and passion for the arts Strong attention to detail, highly organized, ability to prioritize projects and be flexible in a dynamic business environment 

Stellar communication skills, both written and verbal. 

Adaptable, collaborative team player who thrives in fast paced environments and loves a good process and who is not afraid to ask questions when they are unsure 

       Internship Eligibility 

To be eligible to become an NCPC Intern:
Must be 18 years of age at the start of internship 

Have been registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year; Intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year 

Have reliable transportation 

Have access to a computer with reliable internet 

Be a resident of North Carolina

Be able to stand and/or walk around for long periods of time (during the conference)

Be able to lift up to 30lbs (during the conference)
