The Ledonia Wright Cultural Center seeks qualified candidates for a Graduate Assistantship for the 2017-2018 academic year. General information about the position is below and a detailed job description attached to this email.

 

LWCC Student Success Graduate Assistant

The Graduate Assistant will support LWCC’s 4CProgram, designed to ensure successful transition of minority students into the ECU Community.  The GA will help students integrate into ECU and help them navigate their way through college life by providing campus and community referrals, resources, empowerment, and social skill development.

 

As part of this position includes the teaching of a First-Year Seminar (COAD 1000) focused on Diversity and Academic Success in Fall 2017, there is an opportunity to begin employment at the LWCC in late summer. This includes COAD 1000 training on July 19 and 20, and beginning course prep on August 7. Though summer employment is not required, priority consideration will be given to candidates who are available for summer duties.

 

Responsibilities of the Graduate Assistant:

  • Teach a section of First-Year Seminar (COAD 1000) geared towards target populations
  • Recruit student participants.
  • Assist in the daily operation of the LWCC.
  • Plan and implement training workshops and programs
  • Support students in their academic pursuits.
  • Represent LWCC on campus committees.
  • Communicate with participants regarding activities, workshops, etc.
  • Maintain assessment data and data reporting.
  • Maintain ongoing communication about LWCC to the campus community.
  • Assist with grant-writing and other data driven efforts to enhance student success efforts.
  • Perform general office duties.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Other duties as assigned
