Unity Church Communications Coordinator

Job Summary/Overview: To ensure Unity Church strategically and effectively communicates its messages and initiatives both locally (church and community) and globally with excellence, clarity, creativity, and consistency through all media available, including print material, oral communication, videos, livestreaming events, etc.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure high-quality and highest impact communications are created for both internal and external audiences.

• Produce or oversee the production of all videos for the ministry needs of Unity Church (e.g., baptismal and testimonial videos, youth and children’s events, celebration events, etc.).

• Manage media/video diaries for all the church’s special events.

• Oversee the maintenance of all social media needs of Unity Church. This includes current social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and any future networks which are widely used by the church family.

• Oversee the continual improvement, maintenance, and accuracy of the Unity Church website and app, making them aesthetically appealing, functionally simple, and consistently up to date.

• Ensure that all print media are excellent in quality, up to date in information, and kept in stock throughout the Unity Church campus.

• Cultivate, lead and manage a team of communications ministry volunteers (creative thinkers, writers, photographers, designers, etc.) who can help implement our communications strategy. This team could be asked to:

o Keep social media and website/app fresh and engaging.

o Collect and tell stories of life change.

o Photograph the congregation/members on Sundays, mission trips,          VBS, etc.

o Help strategize and plan communications/marketing for 6-12                 months out.

• Implement church strategy for becoming more visible in the community.

• Develop ways to creatively communicate “life change events within church” via video, interviews, Facebook posts, etc.

• Stay current on creative communications and technological trends and look for opportunities to use this information to more effectively communicate with the community and church family.

• Manage Unity Church’s livestream ministry, including the livestream events themselves and all editing of content for later placement online.

Qualifications:

• Must agree with Unity Church’s beliefs, mission statement, core values, and staff policies.

• A degree in communications, media or related field, or a minimum of 3-5 years of equivalent experience. A portfolio of prior work is suggested to be submitted with all applications.

• Organized and able to manage multiple projects at a time.

• Advanced knowledge in areas of social media and video media.

• Must have strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, serving as the editor for all things print and electronic, looking for clear communication, brand presence, and consistency of message across various platforms.

• Must be proficient in graphic design and videography.

Salary range of $30,000 to $36,000 commensurate with education and experience.
