Summer 2021 Internship – Corporate Communications – Huntington Ingalls Industries – Newport News, VA

The Huntington Ingalls Industries Corporate Office will be offering 2021 summer internships. Students will have the opportunity to work 30 hours a week for 8 consecutive weeks during the summer months on a variety of assignments related to their major. Both telework and onsite internships options may be available. HII Corporate is located in Newport News, VA. Applicants must upload a copy of their unofficial transcripts to be considered. Applicants may be disqualified if unofficial transcript is not provided.  

Candidate will serve as an integral part of a dynamic and high-performing communications team and gain practical experience in corporate communications, employee communications, media relations and social media communications using multiple platforms. Your strong communications skills and creativity will be welcomed and valued.  Additionally, the intern will support transformation communications planning and execution, diversity & Inclusion communications and general communications planning and execution.

Basic Qualifications

1.  Candidate must be at least 18 years of age before the start of the summer intern program (Mid-May)

2.  Candidates must be pursuing a degree in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations and have attended a college or university and completed at least one year of course work by May 2021

3.  Candidates must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Unofficial transcripts are required at the time of application

4.  Candidates must attend a college/university (undergraduate or graduate program) in the fall following the internship

5.  Candidates must successfully complete a criminal background investigation and a hair follicle drug screen

6.  Work a 30-hour work week for 8 weeks during the summer
