Attention all social media lovers and “true crime” junkies – for the first time ever, the Greenville, NC Police Department’s Public Information Officer is looking for a Social Media Content Creation Intern for the Spring 2023 or Summer 2023 semester.  This individual will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a TikTok page for the Department, as well as creating content for the Department’s current social channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) – to include pages for the Department’s new Therapy Puppy, Chase.

REQUIREMENTS:

• You love social media – show us your own content!

• You are an expert storyteller and can apply that thinking to social voice

• Immersed in social culture and trends

• Adaptable and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Have a familiarity with the Greenville Police Department’s social presence and content (bonus points if you already follow our pages)

• Have an interest in Law Enforcement (If you like to binge watch crime shows on Netflix, great. If you want to one day work in Law Enforcement, even better)

• Must like dogs (If Golden Retriever puppies are not your thing, please keep scrolling)

• Able to work flexible hours – including some evenings and weekends

• FUN! – (A sense of humor is a must. We like to keep things interesting over here…besides, no one wants to be stuck in the office with a yawnosaurus)

• If there is video evidence of you out there in social media land doing something criminal and/or dumb (yes, we actually do look at these accounts) keep scrolling. We aren’t looking for THAT kind of fun. All applicants are subject to a background check prior to being hired.

• Communications, Marketing or Criminal Justice students preferred

This internship is eligible for class credit and is also a PAID position. If interested, please submit letters of interest, resumes, and links to your current social media content to GPD Public Information Officer, Kristen Hunter khunter@greenvillenc.gov by Monday, November 28 at 5 p.m.  If the aforementioned items are not included in your email, you will not be considered for the position.  If we cannot find the right candidate for the Spring semester, we will hold off until the summer. Thanks in advance!
