If you are not cross-listing your multiple sections you can easily copy content from one class to another, go to Settings, Import Content, Select Copy a Canvas Course, Search for Course, select content to be imported.
You can also Copy to specific items within a course to another course.
Share content by going to the item, edit, click on the snowman dots and select copy to, start typing name of Course and where it should be placed. Done!
Too many courses on your dashboard, clean it up by clicking the Courses link in the purple menu, scroll down until you see All Courses and then click the star for the courses you want to see on your dashboard, quick and easy!
Migrating content to Canvas is easy but do you really need 10 years of content? Canvas Migration Process and Caveats
Tip 8 – Rather than Select All you might want to move certain items to another section of your BB course. Remember you should have all your powerpoints, files etc saved to your piratedrive or other location. Or import all contents to one of your Sandbox courses and then pick and choose what you really need!
Tip 9 – Again rather than import 10 years of exams you can export an exam from BB and import into Canvas. Go to Tests, Pools, Surveys in BB and click on arrow next to exam, export, save it and then in Canvas Settings Import into Canvas or do a mass upload of all Bb quizzes and question pools, then selectively upload or copy/paste into Canvas.
Not happy with the way your homepage looks? Or like it so much you want to use it in another course? Go to edit all pages click on the snowman dots to the right and either duplicate or copy to. This way if you are making changes the original stays spotless.
The first item in a module should be a module overview (created as a Canvas “page”) which lists module dates as well as all learning objectives, assignments, and expectations.
Pages are containers of content that are part of a course. Pages can include text, video, images, and links to files and other course or group content.
Pages will avoid the one item at a time sequence of modules.
Did you know that you can click on the snowman dots to the right of the page and select Page History. This allows you to go back to a previous version of that page. (Good to know when you totally mess up)
There is the global purple menu on the left and each class has its own menu next to it. Go to Settings, Navigation and either click on the snowman dots to disable an time or drag it to the hide from students sections. With Files enabled there might be some exam questions etc. you don’t want to share with students!
Canvas Daily Tips throughout the month of July and rebooting now for Spring Semester!
Today’s Tip –
Can’t find UNDO in the Canvas screen, CTRl + Z will take care of any items that need to be UNDONE!
Homepages can be chosen quickly via the Change Home Page option on the left after clicking Home from your course menu.
After your initial welcome to the class you might create weekly “homepages” with links to what students will be doing.
Search for Module Introduction Page with Flat Icons to import into your course via Canvas or contact this office for assistance.
