ERHD Holiday Greetings!

As Director of the Ethnic and Rural Health Disparities (ERHD) program at East Carolina University, I want to wish everyone – current students, alumni, and potential new ERHD students – a very Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Holiday season! Our ERHD program continues to grow each year and we are looking for bigger and better opportunities for our program in 2017 and 2018! I am very pleased and PROUD of all of our graduates. Your continued success in your careers has been worth all the effort in starting this program back in 2009 and 2010 and I will continue to push forward for new opportunities for our current and future ERHD students. I also want to thank my incredible ERHD Admissions Committee members – Dr. Justin Moore and Dr. Stephanie Bell Jillcot Pitts AND ERHD Student Coordinator – Kelly Bass!

THANK YOU ALL, ENJOY THE MOMENT and FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS!!

Brittany Brown – 2012 ERHD Graduate

This is an update from one of our 2012 ERHD graduates – Brittany Brown. Several weeks ago, I received notification from one of our first set of graduates from the ERHD program – Brittany Brown – that she was accepted into Campbell University’s School of Osteopathic Medicine for the Class of 2012. After graduating with her MPH from East Carolina University’s MPH program and completing our ERHD Certificate, Brittany worked in clinical research for 4 years in the nephrology and hematology oncology departments at ECU. She is currently in her second year of her Masters of Biomedical Science program at Campbell University and will graduate in May 2017.

Brittany is truly an exceptional ERHD alumni because although her journey to achieve her medical degree has not been traditional and taken a little longer, she feels even more encouraged and inspired by her accomplishments.

As Director of the ERHD program, I am so pleased and PROUD of her accomplishments and glad that we played a small part in her success. We wish her ALL THE BEST and know that she will REPRESENT all ERHD alumni and our ERHD program in the best way as she moves on to the next stage of her career and life!
