2013 Spring ERHD Graduates

On Friday May 10, 2013, the Department of Public Health held our Master of Public Health Graduate Recognition Ceremony at The Brody School of Medicine. Among the 45 MPH graduates, the Ethnic and Rural Health Disparities (ERHD) Graduate Certificate Program graduateed four special graduates. This was not only a special day and ceremony for all the MPH graduates, it was particularly special for our 4 ERHD graduates.

The four ERHD graduates were:

Shamaree Cromartie
Tiffany Cox
Michaela Penix
Samantha Kinney

Here is a picture of our 4 ERHD graduates and I. This was a very proud moment for our ERHD graduates and particularly for our ERHD program. I was so proud of their achievements and honored to share this moment with each of them.

2013 Spring Graduates – Shamaree Cromartie, Tiffany Cox, Samantha Kinney, and Michaela Penix

As Director of the ERHD Program, it gives me great pleasure to announce our next set of ERHD Graduates. They are

Shamaree Cromartie
Tiffany Cox
Samantha Kinnney
Michaela Penix

Each student will have completed or will complete the four ERHD courses: MPH 6005 African American Health, MPH 6007 Global Public Health, MPH 6008 Ethnic Health & Health Disparities, and MPH 6009 Capstone Experience in Ethnic Health & Health Disparities.

Now with our next set of Spring graduates, this will give our ERHD program a total of 14 public health professional graduates who have expertise in ethnic and rural health disparities! These graduates are still the FIRST in their fields who have obtained this very special certificate.

New ERHD Scholarship Students for Spring 2013

The ERHD program is continuing to grow and expand into new directions each and every semester. We have been fortunate to receive funding for student scholarships from two previous HRSA grants and now we are starting a brand new funding period from HRSA to support our student scholarships.

Now that the ERHD Scholarship Committee has reviewed all of the applications, we have awarded 4 ERHD Scholarships for Spring 2013. Each ERHD scholarship student has displayed a special commitment and focus on the issues of ethnic and rural health disparities and that’s why they were awarded this very special scholarship.

The 2013 ERHD Scholarship recipients are: Samantha Kinney, Erica Payton, Tiffany Cox, and Shanekia Blackshear. Congratulations to all the recipients! We also want to thank our sponsor again — Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
