Welcome to the Fall 2012 Ethnic and Rural Health Disparities (ERHD) Program

Greetings Everyone,

I want to welcome everyone to the Fall 2012 semester of the ERHD program at East Carolina University. It is a pleasure to bring our ERHD program to all those who are interested in furthering their graduate education in the areas of ethnic, rural and global health disparities. This is actually the 4th year of our program and we are very delighted with the progress that we have made in such a short period of time.

In the spring, the ERHD celebrated the graduation of four MPH students and one health education student. During the summer, we had two more students who have fulfilled all of their requirements for the ERHD program. This coming fall 2012, we will celebrate several more graduates from the program.

I want to also welcome the new students to our ERHD program. We have new students who are receiving the partial scholarship support and other students who are not. Overall, we are continuing to work with all of the health and medical professionals who want to further their expertise in ethnic, rural and global health disparities.

We have also been fortunate to receive a new grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the Department of Health and Human Services of our federal government that supports the scholarships for the public health trainees. The HRSA support continues to help us stabilize and expand our program for so many new public health and medical professionals.

For the fall 2012, I produced a new ERHD welcome video. For those who are interested, here is the link:

If interested in the program or if you have question, please feel free to contact me at: baileye@ecu.edu. Thank you for visiting our ERHD blog and welcome to the ERHD program.
