The Ethnic and Rural Health Disparities (ERHD) Alumni Study

It gives me great pleasure to inform our current, future and past ERHD students that we will be starting a research study on our ERHD program. Graduate Assistant, Shanekia Blackshear, and I have developed a survey to find out about the effectiveness of the program.

The purpose of the ERHD Alumni Study is to determine the effectiveness of our online graduate certificate program. The major objectives of the ERHD Alumni Study are: (1) to evaluate the effectiveness of the ERHD program among our graduates; and (2) to assess new strategies for improving our ERHD program. We develped a semi-structured survey using Qualtrics – an online survey software. We will be contacting all our ERHD graduates and hopefully get full participation. Once we receive their input, we will analyze all of the quantitative and qualitative data.

After the analysis, Shanekia Blackshear and I will summarize the data in a brief report in which we will post on our ERHD Blog. We will also write-up a research paper and submit it to several public health journals. We believe this information is critical to not only future public health graduate students but also to the development of new public health training programs for professionals who are specifically focused on ethnic and rural health disparities.

Keep checking back to our ERHD Blog for updates to our new ERHD Alumni Study.
