New ERHD Scholarship Students for Spring 2013

The ERHD program is continuing to grow and expand into new directions each and every semester. We have been fortunate to receive funding for student scholarships from two previous HRSA grants and now we are starting a brand new funding period from HRSA to support our student scholarships.

Now that the ERHD Scholarship Committee has reviewed all of the applications, we have awarded 4 ERHD Scholarships for Spring 2013. Each ERHD scholarship student has displayed a special commitment and focus on the issues of ethnic and rural health disparities and that’s why they were awarded this very special scholarship.

The 2013 ERHD Scholarship recipients are: Samantha Kinney, Erica Payton, Tiffany Cox, and Shanekia Blackshear. Congratulations to all the recipients! We also want to thank our sponsor again — Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

2013 Spring ERHD Scholarships – Now Taking Essay Submissions

The ERHD program has been fortunate to receive public health training grant support from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services from the very start of our program. Today, I am pleased to announce that we have been awarded a new public health trainingship grant to support graduate students’ tuition for the ERHD courses.

The ERHD Scholarships are available to full-time or part-time graduate students with an interest in health disparities who will enroll and complete the East Carolina University ERHD graduate certificate online program. Candidates for the $1,000 scholarships are asked to submit a 500 – 1000 word essay describing their interests in ethnic and rural health disparities. Essays are due by September 24th, 2012. The ERHD Scholarship Committee will evaluate all applicants’ essays. A limited number of scholarships are available.
