I want to recognize the accomplishments of our LATEST ERHD graduates and now ERHD Alumni — Amy Lee and Rebecca Cook! Amy Lee’s Capstone Proposal entitled, “Renal Cell Carcinoma: Community-Based Participatory Research: African American Empowerment to Action AND Rebecca Cook’s Capstone Proposal entitled, “Investigation of Impacts of Familial Structure Project.” Both Capstone proposals were phenomenal and captured the primary purpose of our ERHD program — Investigate and Solve Ethnic Health and Health Disparity issues!

ERHD Program Honoring – Kelly Bass

Kelly Bass
Selfie with Kelly

Last year, I started a new tradition with the ERHD program and it involved HONORING — Ms Kelly Bass. Kelly is our extra special ERHD STUDENT ADMINISTRATOR and ERHD COURSE ADMINISTRATOR who helps me with all the internal administrative activities related to student enrollment, student graduation, course arrangement, and course implementation into the ECU system. Kelly is the key person who regularly assist me with the overall operations of the ERHD program. Of course, Kelly is the Department of Public Health student coordinator first and then assist me with my ERHD program.

So this is the 2ND YEAR in which I HONOR Kelly Bass for all her knowledge and hardwork that she has provided the ERHD program with a special luncheon at our favorite local eatery – Mi Cabana!

Brittany Brown – 2012 ERHD Graduate

This is an update from one of our 2012 ERHD graduates – Brittany Brown. Several weeks ago, I received notification from one of our first set of graduates from the ERHD program – Brittany Brown – that she was accepted into Campbell University’s School of Osteopathic Medicine for the Class of 2012. After graduating with her MPH from East Carolina University’s MPH program and completing our ERHD Certificate, Brittany worked in clinical research for 4 years in the nephrology and hematology oncology departments at ECU. She is currently in her second year of her Masters of Biomedical Science program at Campbell University and will graduate in May 2017.

Brittany is truly an exceptional ERHD alumni because although her journey to achieve her medical degree has not been traditional and taken a little longer, she feels even more encouraged and inspired by her accomplishments.

As Director of the ERHD program, I am so pleased and PROUD of her accomplishments and glad that we played a small part in her success. We wish her ALL THE BEST and know that she will REPRESENT all ERHD alumni and our ERHD program in the best way as she moves on to the next stage of her career and life!
