If you are a weekly reader

You may have noticed different backgrounds (themes) for the past few weeks.  Wordpress gives you the ability to choose different styles for presenting your information.  You can have static pages which do not let commenting by others.  Or you can have a mixture of the two as I have done this week with the sliding images theme.

You could have put students in groups and let each student manage a page depending on topics or studies.  Lots of uses for this software.  Check out the training schedule if you would like to learn more.

Doodle what?

Doodle let’s meet! One of our colleagues sent me an email suggesting that I blog about this “neat free application to coordinate meeting dates and times.”  www.doodle.com

I had seen it from another colleague who used it to coordinate some meeting times with students, ie. scheduling Centra sessions, Skype sessions or other types of meetings. Also a handy tool to coordinate dates with family and friends.  One central location rather than email after email after email.

The webinar was called Cool Tools!

I know sometimes my job does require that I do something “cool” and this week it was attending a webinar on “Cool Tools” so I figured for the next few blogs I would share a few that were highlighted!

Clickers are always a fun way to engage students but if you forgot to pick them up from my office here is a way to still have that same experience.  Socrative is “smart student response system that empowers teachers to engage their classrooms through a series of educational exercises and games via smartphones, laptops and tablets!”
