Did someone say rotten apples??….. (Apple Vulnerabilities)

I think I’ve found a partner in the picture above to help with stopping technology attackers… what do you guys think?   (A little tech humor).  This weeks blog discusses a more serious issue and that is Apple security. ITCS has been alerted that multiple vulnerabilities have been discovered in Apple products.  Per ITCS, depending on the security settings associated with the application that was exploited, an attacker could install programs, or view, change, or delete data.  If you have a MAC or are planning to purchase one, then this week’s blog and newsletter is for you.  Click HERE to view ITCS’s recent update.  This week’s update also discusses the following updates and helpful information:

  • Recommendations for Apple products
  • Transitioning of our Poster printing services from ITCS to Joyner Library
  • New Features in Microsoft Teams (New presenter modes available)

If you suspect any suspicious activity please contact me as soon as possible.

READY, SET, GO…. PANOPTO (Please read)

Good morning!

If you have chosen to be a part of the Panopto Early adopters group please let me know.  I need to gather recording and course information from you as soon as possible.  As most of you are aware, our Panopto implementation timeline has moved up to the end of Spring 2022 semester.   With that said, I will be participating in all of the Panopto trainings that have been scheduled and I wanted to extend an invitation to allow our department to send me questions and/or concerns as it relates to our Panopto implementation.   I will present them to the implementation team in hopes to get answers and clarity prior to our go live.   In the meantime,  take a look at the latest blog that includes links for you to view some of what the Panopto environment will look like.  Click HERE to view the latest blog.

Activating Panopto Video in Canvas

Greetings CAHS,

If you have turned in your Fall Recording request I have already performed this step for you.  However, if you are planning to manually record from your laptop or desktop please follow the following instructions provided below.

Per ITCS if you are planning to use Panopto in Canvas for Fall courses, the first step is to activate Panopto in Canvas.  Panopto allows instructors to manage the creation of course folders from within Canvas.

Once you activate Panopto in Canvas, your students are automatically granted access.  I have attached a video tutorial as well to aide in this process.  Please contact me if you have any issues or if you would like for me to perform this update for your course.

Click  HERE to view “How to” video tutorial.

First week success

Research shows that students will be more successful in your online course if you do something to engage them the first week.  Be creative and think of something that will get them going the first week. Have them use the discussion or blog tool to introduce themselves, respond to other students, and take a sample quiz.  Consider a homework assignment to give them an opportunity to learn your style and relive any apprehension they may have.
