An interesting conversation . . .

I often blog about Lecture Capture and usually from the instructor view but just this morning had an interesting conversation with a student.  Those of you who record your class lectures  know that I monitor the start of all recordings and I have a portal from which I can view all classrooms in this building equipped with mediasite systems.  I often joke that I can now get a job as a security officer who monitors cameras at different locations!

I was showing this student the portal and talking about what was being done and to quote this student “how great would that be to go back and listen again to a lecture. . .especially when studying”.  Did you know that almost every room in this building has lecture capture capablity?  There is also desktop capability with Tegrity and I will be testing Mediasite’s desktop capture soon.  Just maybe there is something to this lecture capture model!

Collaboration is the buzz word

Another interesting article from E-Campus titled How ‘collaborative learning’ is transforming higher education.  Here are ECU there are a number of tools you can use such as Yammer, Mediasite Lecture Capture, Tegrity Lecture Capture, Centra, Collaborate (still looking for instructors to participate in Spring Pilot), Second Life, Videoconferencing and Lync to name a few.  Perhaps it is time to explore one of these tools for implementation in your Spring Courses!  Contact OET to set up a consultation time.
