Archived presentations to be deleted unless you act soon

New Mediasite Archive Plan Began July 1, 2021

Mediasite is ECU’s video capture tool for academic courses and campus events. We recently updated and automated the storage process for Mediasite content to keep presentations organized while reducing storage and administrative costs.

This past July, Mediasite administrators processed videos according to the following criteria. The report captured the age and number of views for all Mediasite videos older than 24 months.

  • All videos are active in Mediasite for the first 24 months regardless of views and are not included in the annual audit report.
  • A video with 10 or more views during the previous 24 months remains in Mediasite.
  • A video with fewer than 10 views during the previous 24 months was archived and will be deleted on September 29. Deleted videos cannot be recovered.
  • Owners were notified by email of any archived videos.
  • Owners may request that any video slated for deletion be exported into a “Publish to Go” format by submitting a Mediasite Support service request before September 28.

*All videos are active in Mediasite for the first 24 months regardless of views and are not included in the annual audit report.

Recovery and export available until September 28, 2021

You have until September 28 to request that archived videos be exported into a Publish To Go format. Submit the Mediasite Support service request. After a video is deleted it cannot be recovered.

Welcome Aboard – Kym Jefferson

Hello CAHS,

I figured my first official Blog would be a little about who your new Technical Analyst is. 😊

My name is Kym Jefferson and I love all things ECU. I obtained my BS and MS from East Carolina University. (Argh!) I have been in the Technology field for 15+ years. I have worked with ECU for almost 8 years. I am very passionate about helping people and resolving issues.

Fun facts about me: I absolutely love to sing, I love music, and I am all things girlie, so my favorite color is pink. 🙂 My true colors are BLUE with strong hints of ORANGE.

Cheers to one of many more informative blogs to come. Have an incredible remainder of your week. Mascot - East Carolina University Athletics

And now the time has come . . .

It was May 13, 2009 when the first post of this blog arrived in many of your inboxes.  Many have left and many have joined since that date.  Today marks my last posting as I am retiring June 1 and my last day on campus will be May 7, graduation day for many and for me in its own way.

It has been a pleasure working for the college all these years. I first started as an intern to the Gross Anatomy Instructor for the Physician Assistant Program in January 2003 and the rest is history, from working part-time there until full time in preparation of moving to Allied Health’s new location in May 2006.

I have been a witness to this college’s strengths, ability to adapt and its dedication to our students and am very happy to have been part of that time.

And when folks ask what’s next, I say

Whatever I want to do!  It has been a pleasure knowing and working with all of you.

Auto Archival of Mediasite Recordings

In recent Technology news it was announcement an archival plan will be instituted.

Beginning July 1, 2021, Mediasite administrators will audit and process videos according to the following criteria.

An audit report runs annually on July 1

The report captures the age and number of views for all Mediasite videos older than 24 months.* Depending on the number of views, videos are processed as follows:

  • A video with 10 or more views during the previous 24 months remains in Mediasite.
  • A video with fewer than 10 views during the previous 24 months is archived for 90 days then deleted.
  • Owners are notified by email of any archived videos.
  • Owners may also request a video be exported into a “Publish to Go” format during the 90-day archive period (July 1 – September 28), by submitting a Mediasite Support service request.
  • Archived videos are deleted after 90 days.

*All videos are active in Mediasite for the first 24 months regardless of views and are not included in the annual audit report.
