Please note that the old version of MS Bookings will get deprecated from the end of November, 2022. Head over and begin to explore the New Bookings page to explore the updated website.
What is Microsoft Bookings?
Microsoft Bookings is a scheduling tool and is part of the Microsoft Office 365 family of products. Through an easy to create website, Bookings allows end-users to view calendars and schedule appointment. Bookings uses a person’s Outlook calendar to find available times real-time. Bookings gives you a fast, easy alternative to time-consuming, frustrating phone-scheduling. An easy-to-set-up, customizable web page lets people find available times and book appointments 24/7.
Many of you have inquired about the timeline for us to transition from using the current Classic Quizzes to the New Quizzes in Canvas. Canvas has provided an update, their roll out of the tool has been eliminated. That’s right, Canvas will now offer both options for now. This will provide more time for our faculty to test both features to see which would best suite their needs. If you would like a quick tutorial on either quiz option, please set an appointment up with me and I will be glad to assist you. If you have already transitioned to New Quizzes, I would love to hear about your experience. Below is more information on New Quizzes.
New Quizzes Transition Toolkit
As we begin the transition from Classic Quizzes to New Quizzes we wanted to provide specialized resources to better assist admins, faculty, and end users alike. This toolkit will consist of plug & play email templates, checklists, videos, promotional assets and more!
The quiz tool in Panopto can be used for low-stakes self-assessments that are housed within an existing Panopto session. Adding quizzes to Panopto videos is one way to keep viewers engaged with video content and insert comprehension checks at various points throughout a vide.
Quizzes in a Panopto video will automatically pause playback, so students can take as much time as needed to answer questions.
Open your video in the Panopto editor.
Select Quizzing in the left Navigation pane.
Using the Pointer tool, navigate in the Timeline to where you want to put a quiz.
Select the Add a Quiz button. The quiz form will appear in your secondary stream area.
The form has several different fields, including Quiz Name, Question, Answers, and Correct Answer Explanation.
Within the form, you can select the drop-down menu in the top right corner to show different types of quiz questions. The question options include True/False, Multiple Choice, and Multiple Select. The default is multiple choice.
Enter the text of the question along with potential answers in the appropriate text fields. When you have your potential answers added, you must choose a correct answer by selecting the circle next to the correct answer.
Once you are done with a question and want to add another one, click the Add a Question button at the bottom of the form.
If you need to navigate to a different question in your quiz, you can use the Back and Next buttons at the bottom of the form.
Once you have added all of your questions, select the Done button at the bottom of the form.
You will then be directed to the Options page for this quiz where you can adjust the following options:
Allow retakes.
Show grade once the quiz is taken (if this is enabled, you can also allow review of correct answers and explanations).
Block your viewers from advancing the video until the quiz is answered.
Delete questions by choosing the Xs.
Reorganize the questions by using the arrows.
Once you are finished, select the Save button. The name of your quiz will now appear in the Quizzing pane.
Repeat steps 2 through 11 for each quiz you want to add to your video.
When you are finished adding quizzes to the video, select the Publish button located in the top, right-hand corner of the page.
During playback, the video will pause when it is time for a quiz and remain paused until the questions are answered.
In the weeks to come, I want to continue to send more Panopto information that could potentially enhance your classroom/personal recording experience. There are two ways to use Panopto. There’s the option in which I create the recording schedule or a special event for you and then there is an option in which you can record from your desktop. In this weeks blog I want to introduce Panopto Capture.
What is Panopto capture?
The Panopto capture application allows users to record audio, video, and entire screens or application windows without the need to download a recorder. The Capture recorder is opened directly from within a browser.
Note: Panopto Capture requires the latest version of Chrome, Edge (Chromium-based), or Firefox browsers on Windows 10, MacOS 10.15 or higher, or the latest ChromeOS. Safari is NOT currently supported. IPADS and IPhones are NOT supported.
Note: anti-virus exceptions may need to be made for audio (microphone), video (web camera), and screen in your preferred browser.
Note: Mac Users – Depending on the browser you are using, you may need to give additional permission for Chrome or Firefox to access your screen prior to recording a PowerPoint presentation.
I hope the Fall semester is off to a great start for each of you. As you can imagine, it’s pretty busy in my neighborhood ? and boy does it feel good! In efforts to make sure that our Panopto recording system is capturing your lectures properly, please remember to turn your portable microphones “ON”. Just in case there is someone new I have instructions below.
Activate the in room audio system by pressing the Crestron Panel. This MUST be done as it activates all audio systems within the room. Turn your microphone on. Press the button on the front of the microphone until the green light comes on. Clip the microphone to your lapel.
If we do not hear audio from your mic we will call the room you are in and let the phone ring 2 times which is a reminder for you to check that audio is on.
If you have any issues or questions regarding our portable microphones, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
*Per ITCS – Network Access for ECU Visitors is available. Short-term, daily, or weekly network access is available for individuals and groups with legitimate, ECU-supported business or academic need who are visiting the ECU campus but have no PirateID. Visitors must be sponsored by an ECU faculty or staff member.
However, in times past we (CAHS) have had guest to visit our college and they have needed to utilize our wireless network with no success. That has been such an awkward experience because this should be a somewhat seamless task. Right?
However it has not been ☹. So I am hoping in the near future, we are able to prevent most of these occurrences. Please see below some of the steps provided to help resolve some of those connection issues. If you are planning to have guest please feel free to contact me and I can setup sponsorship for them or walk you through the process. I hope this helps.

Whew! I survived! I survived my first official fall course recording setup with the College of Allied Health. Many are not aware of this, but when I joined the college, Jean Merenda (superwoman) had setup the Fall 2021 class recordings so that I could focus on learning the job etc.. This year was the year that Kym Jefferson setup the Fall 2022 class recordings and boy am I proud! Thank you all for being so patient with me as I also learn a new Recording system (Panopto) as well as adapting to the heavy fall course load we have. Here are some of the numbers that I kept record of for Fall. Kudos to our college!!
Total Fall 2022 course recording request: 75 Courses! ?
