2016 Fall – Final Condo Design
Students completed the semester by designing and decorating a unit within their Greenville NC retirement condo building for a lesbian couple from Pittsburgh PA. In addition to incorporating Universal Design strategies for aging in place, students had to design using historical precedents. And each student created a narrative as part of their presentation of the design.

2015 Fall – Project Research
Once again this Fall, students are working on a senior living project. They have begun with research into how to make the spaces user-friendly for people at all levels of ability. Here is a link to the compilation of their research into both Universal Design and the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
2014 Fall – Upgraded Condo Unit
Students upgraded the base condo unit for Pat and Fran, a couple of academics moving to Greenville from Pittsburgh PA. Students also selected furniture and a palette of finishes.

2014 Fall – Base Condo Unit
Students have created a design for a hypothetical developer. The deliverables include:
-plans elevations and perspectives of a typical unit
-a finish palette
-exterior massing study of the building
-section through the shared building corridor
-explanation of the Universal Design strategies used in the design
-explanation of the use of historical precedent in the design
-application of theories of human behavior in the design
